Went out this morning to inspect the damage, and found:
It's either a squash or a courgette (the seedlings got mixed up, and I've never bothered to check out the different leaves to see which growbag holds which plant). All the stems are bent over, and roots totally exposed. Very sad. Waiting to see if it survives after a re-burial of the roots. I haven't got any canes to prop the stems back up, but I might get some tomorrow, as my dwarf beans are growing alarmingly tall and could do with some.
Exhibits B and C:
Completely and utterly waterlogged beets and carrots. I did cut some drainage holes in the troughs when I bought them, but obviously not enough. I don't know whether to dig up and try to re-pot them in drier compost, or leave them and see if any survive. Any ideas?
These rather grubby looking weeds are actually cucumber plants, caught out at the more exposed front of the house:
After a bit of emergency surgery (recovering the roots, draining out what water I could), I'm going to see how everything's looking after a hopefully slightly less alarming night tonight.
It's not all bad news though. The vast majority has survived intact, and there's even the first signs of some new crops:
